WhiteHouseForSale.org is a project of Public Citizen, a national, nonprofit public interest organization with 160,000 members that was founded in 1971 to represent consumer interests in Congress, the executive branch and the courts.
They fight for openness and democratic accountability in government, for the right of consumers to seek redress in the courts; for clean, safe and sustainable energy sources; for social and economic justice in trade policies; for strong health, safety and environmental protections; and for safe, effective and affordable prescription drugs and health care.
The web site is managed by Congress Watch. Congress Watch champions consumer interests before the U.S. Congress and serves as a government watchdog. It lobbies to strengthen health, safety and environmental protections; demand an end to corporate subsidies; fight to preserve citizen access to the courts to redress corporate wrongdoing; and seek to ensure a strong democracy by exposing the harmful impact of money in politics and advocating for comprehensive campaign finance reform.
